November 17, 2024

Comrades, Members of the Press, and Our Esteemed People,

Today, as I stand before you as the elected General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPM-K), I am deeply honoured and humbled by the trust placed in me by the Congress delegates. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected members of the Central Organizing Committee (COC). This moment reflects the collective strength, discipline, and dedication of all comrades’ present. In CPM-K, leadership is a responsibility rooted in service, not privilege. We are guided by the principle of revolutionary division of labour, ensuring each comrade contributes fully and equally to our shared mission.

This milestone, held with the full participation of both our incoming and outgoing leadership, represents a pivotal stride towards consolidating the revolutionary mission of our Party and strengthening our collective resolve in the fight for national liberation and socialist transformation. What are some of these milestones?

1. Our Path Forward: Reaffirming Marxism and Revolution

In a significant move to sharpen our ideological clarity, we have ratified the reconstitution of our Party as the Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPM-K). This reconstitution including name change underscores our steadfast dedication to Marxist principles and unflinching commitment to the complete emancipation of our people. We have carefully reviewed our party documents and aligned them with our current realities and the long-term interest of our movement.

2. Renewed Party Symbols and Identity

Our Congress proudly adopts new symbols as a testament to our renewed resolve:

- Emblem: The Red Star, Hammer, and Sickle in Gold.

- Flag: A Red Flag centred with a Gold Hammer and Sickle, framed by a Red Star with a Gold lining.

- Colours: Gold, Black, and Red as our official Party colours, each representing our revolutionary heritage, strength, and the sacrifices made for justice.

3. Organisational and Structural Reforms

To strengthen our mass appeal and broaden our reach, we have restructured critical wings of our Party:

- The Revolutionary Youth League (RYL) is revitalised to foster a mass character and deepen youth engagement in our cause.

- The Revolutionary Women’s League (RWL) is newly constituted to enhance the role of women in the struggle.

- The Revolutionary Student Commission (RSC) has been established to mobilise students as a force for change.

- Our ideological training will be strengthened through the Pio Gama Pinto Institute, dedicated to developing revolutionary cadre and refining our strategic direction.

4. Strategic Resolutions and Programmatic Focus

We reaffirmed our dedication to the National Democratic Revolution (NDR), with key resolutions to:

- Prioritise alliances to complete our independence and to move steadfastly to socialist construction

- Honour Dedan Kimathi’s Legacy as a symbol of national liberation and the ongoing journey towards socialism.

5. Approval of Foundational Documents

We adopted the “TUNAKATAA” People’s Charter and ratified our revised Party Constitution, alongside new membership processes to deepen engagement and ensure accountability.

6. On propaganda and Agitation

In honouring the martyrs and resisting repression, our Congress approved the screening of the Gen Z Uprising Documentary, a vital record of state violence and the heroic sacrifices of our comrades.

The Congress formally confirmed the leadership of CPM-K as follows:

This event underscores our unwavering resolve to resist state repression and continue the fight for justice and socialism.

LETTER TO THE GLOBAL NORTH
05 May 2026 14:16

Comrades, We address you at a historical precipice. The global capitalist system, in its advanced stage of heightened imperialism, is characterized by deepening crises and escalating violence. The centers of imperial power—Washington, Brussels, London, Paris are intensifying their efforts to maintain a hegemony that is increasingly contested. In the Global South, we are the primary targets of this aggression. The mechanisms of our oppression are calculated and brutal. We are strangled by illegitimate debt, wielded not as economic aid, but as a weapon of political control by institution [ ... ]
